Saxophonist/composer Anton Schwartz hooks up with vocalist Darryl Rowe for two special engagements. "Darryl's singing combines the sweetness of Nat King Cole with the funkiness of Stevie Wonder," says Schwartz. "It's a rare combination -- Darryl is a phenomenal talent -- and we intend to put all the aspects of that talent to good work!" The two will lead a quintet that includes internationally acclaimed guitarist Bruce Forman in his first performance at the new Yoshi's club, as well as Schwartz's long-time collaborators John Shifflett (bass) and Jason Lewis (drums). The concerts will feature new original compositions and arrangements, as well as selections from Schwartz's CDs and from the classic jazz repertoire.
